Fight Fire With Diamonds:
How to Deal With Difficult People

This program will give you the skills to diffuse conflicts, turn arguments around and employ proven techniques to get along with almost anyone, even the meanest and most malicious.By understanding different types of difficult people (and what they want), we can learn to develop strategies and "scripts" beforehand. This helps us recognize the difficult behavior and practice how we handle being blindsided by difficult people. In this session, Lisa shows how relationship problems come from people not speaking the same language as the difficult person. You will become more confident, and more skilled at dealing with the worst — and the best! You will learn:

• How to diffuse difficult situations with humor and charm
• To identify types of difficult people and use effective ways to deal with them
• Things to avoid when you disagree
• To avoid "I should have said..." and develop scripts and strategies for difficult situations
• To understand what difficult people really want with their difficult behavior
• To recognize the different types of power, and how to avoid being the victim of "power plays"
• How to use the "Mother Teresa" method of turning negatives into positives
• What to say when you've been tricked, attacked or abused
• How to keep your cool in the heat of the flame
• Winning words that work every time!

The Art of Being Memorable

We never forget memorable people. Memorable people make us feel special. We think about them often, we remember what they say, how they say it and what they do. How is it that some people are more memorable than others? What is it that makes them unforgettable? This is a fun and lively workshop that helps you become the real you, find the sparkle that's inside, learn how to motivate and inspire others, and develop the confidence and communication skills that can help you become memorable to everyone around you. This seminar teaches you that the skills of being memorable and the skills of great communication can be learned.

Optional formats available: Keynote, half day, full day, or three-day program.

Accent Reduction and Articulation Classes

For non-native English Speakers: Accent Reduction training helps non-native English speakers hear their own mispronunciation and learn how to make English sounds correctly. In each language we move our mouth differently, we have different stress patterns, rhythm, speed, and intonation. For example, Spanish speakers have trouble distinguishing the difference between ‘truck’ and ‘track’; Chinese speakers have trouble with L and R; and Germans with V and W. In this workshop, they hear the difference for the first time – many people experience a breakthrough. They practice moving their mouth properly to enunciate the tiny subtleties of English. This is purely a speech class — a fun and lively class.

For English Speakers: Studies show that only one out of three Americans articulate correctly, and nearly 1/3 of Americans need some type of articulation training. Dialects, slurred or muddy speech can be distracting in a professional environment and can cause problems for interviews, promotions or the image of the company. This class helps native English speakers to become more articulate, influential and confident in their speech.

Business Writing Workshop 1 &2

The average reader has an attention span of about 20 seconds. This is why many things we write go unread. Many documents are unclear, full of "business-ese," contain grammatical and word-usage errors, or are just plain boring. People make judgments on your writing. Every day, people form opinions from the letters, faxes, memos and e-mails they receive.

Who should attend the workshop? Everyone who writes business letters, e-mail, reports, or memos and wants to improve his or her writing skills – from senior executives to every level of the organization. The class is also very helpful for those who don’t often write as a part of their job – it gives them the skills they need when they will have to write performance evaluations, reports or emails.

Public Speaking

Learning public speaking skills helps you build confidence, overcome communication anxiety, and master methods on how to present your thoughts clearly so they have an impact on your listeners or audience. Good speakers have influence, and this is why we learn public speaking. In this three-day “boot camp” you’ll learn to organize your ideas and polish your delivery skills as you begin to develop your own speaking style. You will make three prepared presentations in this course, and experience many opportunities to ‘speak on your feet’. You will learn how to tame your anxiety and use that adrenalin to your advantage. This course is appropriate for the novice as well as experienced and communicator.

Optional formats available: Can be offered in a three-day program or a one-day program. Due to its highly interactive nature, we suggest that this workshop be limited to approximately 12 participants per session.
